Members of fervently Orthodox neighborhoods of Jerusalem made effigies of Israel’s education minister that they plan to hang and burn during the Purim holiday, Israel Radio reported. The move came after the leader of the fervently Orthodox Party, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, compared Yossi Sarid to Haman, the figure from the Book of Esther who seeks the destruction of the Jewish people.
