Jewish leaders attended opening ceremonies for a Jewish nursing home in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital. The result of a joint effort involving the Claims Conference, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and a local community group in Sofia known as Shalom, the home for 40 patients was paid for in part by proceeds from the sale of heirless Jewish property in the former East Germany.
