Iranian officials allowed the first public rock performance since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The performance, tame by Western standards, took place at an art school in Tehran. Government officials, who allowed the concert in reaction to public calls for greater personal freedom, were present at the performance, which they canceled after two songs.
