Funds for missions to Israel and for regional services — such as consulting on fund-raising and personnel matters — provided to smaller local U.S. Jewish communities will likely be cut significantly in next year’s budget of the umbrella organization of North American Jewish federations. These were among the tentative budget recommendations for the United Jewish Communities presented at a meeting in Washington. Leaders of small federations said the proposed cuts would hurt their operations.
