For the first time in its history, the group representing British Jewry is about to have a woman as its leader. Jo Wagerman is expected to be elected president of the British Board of Jewish Deputies next month. Currently the board’s senior vice president, Wagerman said she plans to heal rifts among the Jewish community’s religious streams.
