The first American to be honored as a Righteous Gentile by the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem is the protagonist in an upcoming television movie being shot in Montreal. “Varian’s War: A Forgotten Hero” tells the story of Varian Fry, who headed the American Rescue Committee in Marseilles and organized a network of international volunteers who saved many of Europe’s leading writers and artists by smuggling them into Spain.
