The leader of the Lubavitch movement in Russia called for a conference of Russian Jewish leaders to “straighten out” their differences. The suggestion by Rabbi Berel Lazar came after Russia’s chief rabbi, Adolph Shayevich, charged that he is being pressured to resign. Shayevich later retracted the charge.
