A California teen-ager lost his appeal of a conviction for burning a cross in front of a Jewish house. Daniel Patrick Carr, 19, was sentenced to two years in prison in 1999. Carr claims he was too drunk to know what he was doing, and that the couple’s son suggested he burn the cross because he was angry at his parents.
