Ethnic background continues to divide Israelis when it comes to education, according to figures presented to a Knesset committee. The figures show that 53 percent of Israelis of Ashkenazi background have post-secondary education, compared to 23 percent of native-born Israelis of Sephardi descent. Experts said the numbers are influenced by economic status because Ashkenazi families spend more money on supplemental studies for their children.
