The commander of Israeli forces in the West Bank resigned as a result of last weekend’s botched raid on a Hamas militant in which three Israeli soldiers were killed, apparently by “friendly fire.” In addition to Brig. Gen. Shlomo Oren, the leader of the elite Dudevan unit, which conducted the raid, also resigned. It was not clear whether the Israeli army’s chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz, would accept the resignations.
