President Bush is expected to discuss faith-based initiatives in a speech on Thursday. Most Jewish groups are wary of giving religious groups a larger role in social services. They fear that the Bush administration’s effort to increase partnerships between the federal government and religious institutions could erode the constitutional separation of church and state.
