Most American Jews do not feel closer to Israel despite the intifada, according to a new study. In a nationwide survey conducted in November and December and published in the Forward newspaper, Hebrew University sociologist Steven M. Cohen found that some 83 percent of 1,386 Jews surveyed said their attachment to the Jewish state is “not much changed” from two years ago.
