A man posing as a Paris rabbi collecting funds for Jewish charities stole close to $1 million of precious stones. The man was allowed to enter the European Laboratory for Precious Gems in central Paris last week at the exact moment when the head diamond merchant was performing his daily check on inventory and the safe was open.
