A leading U.S. lawmaker called on President Bush to appoint a senior envoy for the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) said last Friday that an envoy could “focus like a laser beam” on the Middle East, adding that the U.S.-backed “road map” peace plan was a “viable starting point.”
