Claude Berri, a leading French filmmaker who is Jewish, received one of France’s highest awards. Berri, born Claude Langmann in Paris in 1934, was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor on Bastille Day by French President Jacques Chirac. The presentation of an award by the president on France’s national holiday is considered a particular honor.
