Ukraine will help Israel in its communication satellite program. The former Soviet republic will participate in the AMOS satellite-system program, which aims to launch the AMOS-3 satellite in 2007. A cooperation agreement was reached Sunday at a meeting in Kiev between Yevgeny Chervonenko, Ukraine’s minister of transport and communication and a prominent Jewish community leader, and Michael Nudelman, a deputy speaker of Israel’s Knesset. According to Nudelman, Ukraine can supply Israel with satellite ground transportation and geodesic services at a lower cost and higher quality than those currently provided by an Austrian company.
