Mahmoud Abbas cultivates a false image of weakness, Israel’s vice prime minister said. Abbas “is in love with his image of weakness, because he believes that this helps him mobilize international pressure on Israel to make more concessions,” Ehud Olmert told the Jerusalem Post on Thursday, referring to the Palestinian Authority president’s claims that he does not have the power to crack down on terrorists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as required by the U.S.-led “road map” for peace.
