Israel said Iran could produce nuclear weapons by 2008, a year later than previously predicted. A senior Israeli military commander said in remarks published Monday that Iran no longer was believed to have a separate military program for producing nuclear arms, meaning that it would have to rely on the civilian track to acquire the bomb. Israel originally warned that Iran would be nuclear-capable by 2005.
