Hungary reopens Novi Sad case

A Hungarian accused of Nazi-era war crimes is being investigated by
prosecutors. Sandor Kepiro, 93, was sentenced to 10 years in jail in 1944 for
being a fascist policeman responsible for the murder of more than 1,200 people
in Novi Sad. But a Budapest court last month ruled that his sentence
was annulled since a retrial only months after the first court case found Kepiro
not guilty. Now Hungary has reopened an investigation against
Kepiro. The Simon Wiesenthal Center has been
actively seeking the prosecution of Kepiro.
