British footballers visit Yad Vashem

Representatives of a visiting British soccer team paid respects at Yad Vashem. Leaders of the English Football Association, whose team will play Israel over the weekend, visited Yad Vashem on Friday and laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance. One delegate was quoted as saying that he hoped soccer could remove obstacles between people and reduce racism and perhaps help in preventing the repetition of terrible phenomena such as the Holocaust.The visit was arranged by the Maccabi Israel organization. Thousands of British fans have flown to Tel Aviv for Saturday’s Euro 2008 qualifier.
