Mazuz sees links in Olmert cases

Israel’s attorney general
suggested there is a pattern to the corruption cases with apparent links to Ehud

“The number of cases in which Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is involved has
great significance,” Menachem Mazuz said in a Channel 1 television interview
Tuesday. “Certainly when events of the same type relate to the same period, this
actually indicates a pattern of behavior as well as a modus operandi.”

Olmert has denied any
wrongdoing in several graft allegations that have dogged him during his term in
top office as well as in other government posts. Finance Minister Abraham
Hirschson, an Olmert confidant, is also under police investigation on suspicion
of embezzlement.

Investigations of Olmert have all come up empty, but the accusations have prompted public calls for his resignation, a subject on which Mazuz refused to comment at length.

is his obligation to be certain that he is capable of performing appropriately,”
Mazuz said.
