Israeli warplanes meet airliner

Israel scrambled fighter jets to escort an incoming American
passenger plane. Continental Airlines Flight 90 from Newark was
intercepted on its final approach Wednesday after its pilots failed to
identify themselves properly to ground control at Ben Gurion Airport,
Israeli officials said. All passengers and crew disembarked safely.
Continental had no immediate comment.
