Nicolas Sarkozy said France would continue its “balanced”
Middle East policy if he were elected president.
“There will be a continuity of this policy,
which is a balanced approach,” the candidate of the ruling UMP Party said Tuesday after a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Paris.
“I will guarantee the security of Israel, but I
also want the Palestinians to have their share – a state for the Palestinians. I
also want Lebanon
to get its independence, and I would like to build with Arab leaders relations
based on confidence,” Sarkozy said.
