A German rabbi was hurt in a knife attack.

German police said the 42-year-old rabbi, whose name was not immediately released, was stabbed in the abdomen Friday while walking in Frankfurt’s Westend district.

The assailant, who fled the scene with two women, was believed to have spoken both German and Arabic. He made a death threat before lunging with his pocket knife, the rabbi told police.

The rabbi, who belongs to Frankfurt’s Jewish community, underwent surgery and is in stable condition, police said.
