A nationalist party received the highest number of votes ever in Swiss elections.

The Swiss People’s Party, whose campaign focused on blaming foreigners for most of the criminal acts in Switzerland, garnered 29 percent of Sunday’s vote, according to official results released the next day. Voters also elected the first black Parliament member in Swiss history.

The xenophobic Swiss People’s Party called for a law to expel an immigrant family if a child violates Swiss law. The People’s Party will now have 62 seats in the 200-member parliament.

Approximately 1.6 million foreigners live in the country of 7.5 million, according to The Associated Press.
