Germany’s Reform Jews will honor a Jordanian prince.

Hassan bin Talal will be recognized with the Abraham Geiger Prize for promoting reconciliation and interreligious dialogue, as well as for his environmental efforts, the Union for Progressive Jews in Germany announced. The annual prize will be awarded in March.

In its statement the union said that Hassan, the longtime president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, is to be “recognized for the courage with which he stands up for pluralism, intercultural dialog and understanding between Jews, Muslims and Christians.”

The Central Council of Muslims in Germany praised the Jewish group’s decision to honor Hassan and said it looked forward to greeting the prince.
