Israeli security forces arrested a female Hamas lawmaker in the West Bank.
Mariam Saleh, one of the few women politicians serving the dominant Palestinian Islamist movement, was taken into custody in Ramallah early Monday.
Israeli military sources said Saleh is suspected of involvement in Hamas terrorism.
Palestinian radio reported that Israel arrested a second Hamas lawmaker, Khaled Tafesh, outside Bethlehem. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on that report.
Israel has rounded up dozens of Hamas lawmakers since the Palestinian faction led the June 2006 abduction of an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, from the Gaza Strip. Hamas calls the arrests an effort to neutralize its parliamentary majority and thus bolster the rival Fatah faction of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
