A Russian rabbi was cited for his role in apprehending a knife-wielding attacker in a 2006 synagogue rampage in Moscow.
Yitzhak Kogan was presented the Order of the Badge of Honor by President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
In January 2006, Kogan and religious student Haim Yosef Eliyahu helped in the arrest of Alexander Koptsev, 20, after he burst into the Chabad shul on Bolshaya Bronaya Street in central Moscow. Koptsev stabbed nine people before he was apprehended and was later sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Eliyahu is set to receive the award as well.
