Israel on alert for Bush visit

More than 10,000 Israeli police officers will be deployed for President Bush’s visit next week.

Jerusalem Police Chief Aharon Franco unveiled security plans Wednesday for the Jan. 9-11 visit. Franco said no specific intelligence warnings have been received of terrorist plans to attack Bush’s entourage.

Bush will visit major sites in Jerusalem and may convene a summit between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
