One of Ariel Sharon’s sons will begin a prison sentence next month for violating election laws.

Omri Sharon, who was convicted of illicitly funding a 1999 run by his father, the former Israeli prime minister, for the leadership of the Likud Party, will begin a seven-month jail term Feb. 27.

Israel’s Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal lodged by Sharon against his sentence.

The affair forced Sharon to resign from the Knesset, where he served as a senior Likud lawmaker.
