Gunmen opened fire outside Israel’s embassy in Mauritania.

No one was killed in the attack early Friday in Nouakchott, the Arab League nation’s capital. Between one and three people were wounded; they apparently were revelers at a nightclub next to the embassy. None were Israeli.

The attackers shouted “God is Great” before opening fire.

Mauritania is one of only three Arab nations with full diplomatic ties with Israel. Western intelligence agencies recently have identified an Al-Qaida cell in the country.

The Paris to Dakar Rally canceled the Mauritanian leg of its trans-Saharan auto race last month because of security concerns.
