Two sisters were wounded when a Kassam rocket landed near a playground on a kibbutz in the western Negev.

The girls, aged 12 and 2, suffered shrapnel wounds Wednesday afternoon; their mother went into shock. Shrapnel from the rocket, launched from the Gaza Strip, also damaged several nearby homes in Kibbutz Be’eri.

Shortly after, a home in Sderot also was damaged by rocket fire.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the attacks.
