One of Ariel Sharon’s sons left prison after part of his sentence for election financing violations was commuted.
Omri Sharon, a former Likud Party lawmaker, went free Wednesday, after serving five months of a seven-month jail term. He will be considered to be out on furlough through August.
Sharon was convicted of fraudulently financing his father’s successful 1999 run for the Likud leadership.
Ariel Sharon, who went on to become Israeli prime minister, denied wrongdoing in the case.
Omri and his brother Gilad have closely tended to the former premier since he suffered a stroke in 2006.
