Top figures chair March of Living

An Israeli basketball star and an Obama adviser will be part of the March of the Living’s new advisory board.

The newly established board for the Holocaust education program, which brings youths from around the world to Poland to tour the death camps, with include top political and diplomatic figures from Israel, the United States, Britain and Canada.

Phyllis Greenberg Heideman, a Washington-area philanthropist, on Thursday named her co-chairmpersons for the advisory board. They include Daniel Kurtzer, a former U.S. ambassador to Israel and currently a senior adviser to the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.); Danny Ayalon, a former Israeli ambassador to Washington who now chairs the Nefesh b’Nefesh aliya promotion program; Irwin Cotler, a former Canadian justice minister; Lord Greville Janner, a Labor Party leader in Britain; Tal Brody, the Amercian-born former Israeli basketball star who is now a businessman; and Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, the founder of The Israel Project.

Shmuel Rosenman, March of the Living’s president, and David Machlis, its vice-chairman, named Heideman, a five-year veteran of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, chairwoman of the advisory committee last week.
