A United Nations aid agency says it has run out of food for Palestinians living in Gaza.
The warning came Thursday after fuel and humanitarian supplies were not transferred to the Gaza Strip as planned because of security warnings of a planned Palestinian attack.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency said Thursday would be the last delivery to the 750,000 Palestinians living in Gaza until Israel allows deliveries of food and supplies through its crossings with the Hamas-controlled strip.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak had ordered Wednesday that fuel and humanitarian aid be allowed into Gaza the next day, but the Israeli army decided Thursday morning not to open the Kerem Shalom crossing and the Nahal Oz fuel terminal after receiving intelligence information.
Israel closed its border crossings with Gaza last week after an Israeli raid on a tunnel on the Gaza border sparked more than 60 rocket and mortar attacks on southern Israel.
Also Thursday, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Gaza Division commander, Brig.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg, was postponed until the situation stabilizes. Brig.-Gen. Moshe Tamir will remain in his position for now.
A Kassam rocket landed on the outskirts of Ashkelon and another in the Negev on Thursday. Five Kassam rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel overnight Wednesday.
