Ayalon quits Labor Party

JERUSALEM (JTA)—Former Shin Bet security service head Ami Ayalon announced his resignation from Israel‘s Labor Party.

The Knesset minister without portfolio announced his resignation Sunday, saying that "Labor has lost its way."

Ayalon, who was a close second in last year’s race for party leader, is considering whether to join another left-wing party or the center Kadima Party.

Meanwhile, Lt.-Gen. (res.) Moshe Ya’alon, the former army chief of general staff, remains undecided about whether to enter politics, despite rumors that he would join the Likud Party on Sunday.
