The campaign may be over, but the fundraising seems to never stop. Today, Barack Obama’s transition team released a list of 1,776 donors that had written checks totaling more than $1.17 million to help pay for the transition, as of Nov. 15. After a quick review of the Web site, we found a handful of prominent Jewish community members in the mix.
Maxing out with a donation of $5,000 were former National Jewish Democratic Council chairman (and longtime Joe Biden friend and supporter) Michael Adler, Edgar Bronfman Jr., and longtime Democratic fundraiser and Jewish philanthropist Alan Solomont. James and Paula Crown, the son and daughter-in-law of Jewish philanthropist and early Obama backer Lester Crown, also each gave $5,000. Rita Hauser, a Republican who backed Obama and is most famous for being part of a group of American Jews who urged Yasser Arafat to recognize Israel in 1988, maxed out as well.
There was even one rabbi on the list. Jewish Theological Seminary professor Burton Visotzky gave $200 to the Obama transition efforts.
