JERUSALEM (JTA) — A hearing in the investigation of one of Ehud Olmert’s alleged fraud scandals was scheduled for February.
The hearing was announced Tuesday by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz. The prime minister’s lawyers had requested a May date.
Olmert is accused of double-billing nonprofit organizations for airplane flights for public business and using the extra money to finance family vacations through the Rishon Tours travel agency. The hearing is his last chance to convince Mazuz not to file an indictment.
The investigation, one of five ongoing probes against Olmert, began five months ago.
