The Poor Man, the liberal satirical website, is accepting votes in its blog awards (just one set of what seems to be a multitude – Andrew Sullivan, what have you wrought?); these awards are for what the Poor Man considers to be, shall we say, conservative rhetorical excesses (the Poor Man uses a British euphemism for, uh, a lonely kind of lovemaking).
Jonah Goldberg’s book "Liberal Fascism" gets four nominations (most unrepeatable on a family blog). One is for the "Purple Teardrop with Clutched Pearls Cluster"; without getting as, um, colorful as the Poor Man’s description, it’s essentially the award for the most egregious display of self-pity by a conservative.
Goldberg is nominated for his assertion in "Liberal Fascism" that "The White Man is the Jew of Liberal Fascism."
In its original post from January, the Poor Man provides a useful chart demonstrating exactly how this is so. A word of caution: I laughed, but this doesn’t mean that the satirical website did not cross bounds of taste – if anything, it means it’s likely. I mean "Chardonnay" and "Zyklon B"?
In fairness, here’s Goldberg’s defense of his proposition.
