JERUSALEM (JTA) — Police suspect it was fervently Orthodox extremists who painted over Tzipi Livni’s face on campaign posters throughout Jerusalem.
Livni’s Kadima Party posters and the posters of other parties on which her face appears were vandalized.
The extremists are opposed to public images of women, the Jerusalem Post reported. The vandals could be subject to a small fine.
The photos of another party’s female candidate appearing on posters in Jerusalem also were painted over several weeks ago, according to police.
