Susie Turnbull’s term as Democratic National Committee vice chair may have expired, but the Maryland Jewish Democrat will continue to be a big player in party politics.

Turnbull will be nominated next week as chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party.

Turnbull has been active in the Greater Washington, D.C. and national Jewish community. She was named a Jewish Women’s International "Woman to Watch" in 2005 and as the principal in an interior space planning business she provided her services pro bono to the new headquarters of the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville, Md. She also serves on the board of JSSA, JWI and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs

She told National Journal that one of the reasons she’s looking forward to the new position is the chance to spar with the new chair of the Republican National Commitee, Marylander Michael Steele:

"One of the I think fun parts of this new job is I hope that people will come to the Maryland Democratic Party for comments and thougths about Michael Steele because we know him best," she said.
