JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the state to demolish illegal Palestinian buildings in the West Bank.
The ruling Wednesday said the state must set a timetable for the demolition of two buildings in two Palestinian villages near Nablus. The ruling was in response to a petition filed by the Regavim Movement for the Protection of National Land.
Since 1996 only three demolition orders have been issued for 50 illegal structures in the village of as-Sawiyeh, where one of the buildings ordered demolished is located.
