JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli troops killed one suspect and injured another who crossed into Israel with sacks of drugs.
A group of alleged drug runners infiltrated Israel from the Egyptian border on Saturday.
Israeli soldiers fired warning shots into the air and called on the infiltrators to identify themselves. When the men did not respond, the soldiers fired on them, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
One of the infiltrators was killed and another was injured in the incident.
Sacks of illegal drugs were found near the area of the incident, the IDF said.
Last week, Israeli troops shot and killed a man, identified as a Bedouin resident of Sinai, infiltrating from the same border and reported to be a drug smuggler.
