At the URJ biennial: Luminaries from Sharansky to Obama

Tonight the Union for Reform Judaism Biennial in Washington kicked off with two big speakers: the famed former refusenik and current Jewish Agency chairman, Natan Sharansky, and parenting expert Wendy Mogel, author of “The Blessing of a Skinned Knee: Using Jewish Teachings to Raise Self-Reliant Children.”

We will have the URJ’s live webcast of President Obama’s Frida afternoon address to the biennial streaming on this blog. And we will be posting select videos from the biennial on JTA’s Capital J blog as the URJ makes them available.

Additional luminaries addressing the URJ Biennial include: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Thu.), breast-cancer activist Nancy Brinker (Thu.), Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak (Thu.) and the URJ’s new president-elect, Rabbi Rick Jacobs (Sun.)

The biennial’s full schedule (with video resources) is here.

UPDATE 12/15: Here is video of Sharansky’s appearance last night at the URJ Biennial:
