JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israeli lawyer hired by the daughter of Muammar Gadhafi has asked the the International Criminal Court to investigate the circumstances of the Libyan ruler’s death.

Nick Kaufman, an international lawyer in Jerusalem and a former senior prosecutor at the international court, last month petitioned International Criminal Court prosecutor Jose Luis Moreno Ocampo to look into Gadhafi’s death.

Gadhafi’s daughter Aisha fled Libya in August, before her father reportedly was tortured and killed after being uncovered by opposition rebel forces.

”The images of this savagery were broadcast throughout the world, causing my client severe emotional distress," Kaufman wrote in the request.

Aisha Gadhafi is living in Algeria and has not been charged with any crimes.

Muammar Gadhafi never recognized the State of Israel.
