Boehner goes to shul

We just now posted a story about John Boehner speaking to a Chabad shul in Florida — a shul called the SHUL, handily enough.

American Friends of Lubavitch tells me it’s the first time the House speaker has spoken in a shul, although that might be impossible to verify — he’s been a pol for decades, and for most of those decades has been close to Ohio’s Jewish community.

Anyhoo, here are some photos, courtesy of Carlos Chattah/The SHUL of Bal Harbour.

He also met with Jewish servicemen and servicewomen attending the Aleph Institute’s annual leadership conference. The Aleph Institute is the Chabad-affiliated outreach to Jews in the military and in prisons. Its founder, Rabbi Shalom Lipskar, organized the event with Rabbi Levi Shemtov, who directs American Friends of Lubavitch. Lipskar also leads the SHUL.
