Religious Jews aren’t the only ones reconciling restrictive sartorial traditions with modern fashions, as JTA reported earlier this month. So are some Muslims.

The Daily Beast ran an article on Muslim women whose blogs on the latest fashion trends in their religious communities have gathered a global following.

Dina Tokio, a British woman of Egyptian descent, for instance, has posted a video on YouTube advising observant Muslims what to wear to the beach (the flesh-concealing outfit often referred to as the burkini). Meanwhile, a blog called Hijab Trendz authored by Chicago-based Mariam Sobh has averaged two million hits a month.
