(JTA) — Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former chief of the International Monetary Fund, will face trial on pimping charges, French prosecutors said.
Investigating magistrates have decided Strauss-Kahn, who is Jewish, should be tried in connection with an alleged prostitution ring at a hotel in Lille, France, the BBC reported.
Strauss-Kahn, a former French presidential candidate, has admitted attending sex parties at the hotel, but says he did not know that some of the women were paid prostitutes.
The case is the last of the sex-related allegations against Strauss-Kahn.
A series of lurid claims have been made about the high-profile French figure since he was arrested in New York in May 2011 after a hotel maid said he had tried to rape her.
Charges eventually were dropped, and Strauss-Kahn subsequently reached a settlement with the maid. Two other cases against him also have been dismissed.
An allegation of sexual assault in Paris in 2003 was not pursued because it had taken place too long ago.
French prosecutors ended an investigation into allegations of gang rape at a hotel in Washington last October after the woman who made the claim retracted her evidence.
Strauss-Kahn stepped down as the head of IMF following his arrest in New York.
