Argentine Jewish leaders visit parents of Naftali Frenkel

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A delegation of leaders from the AMIA Buenos Aires Jewish center visited the parents of kidnapped Israeli teenager Naftali Frenkel.

During the meeting Friday at the Frenkel home in Nof Ayalon, the center’s vice presidents and treasurer gave Rachel and Avi Frenkel a letter from the Argentine Jewish community expressing solidarity with their son and two other abducted teens, as well as Jewish books from Argentina and an AMIA flag.

Joining the delegation was Ariel Goldgewicht, the Latin American director of Keren Kayemet LeIsrael.

AMIA leaders were in Israel to mark the 120th anniversary of the Jewish center and the 20th year commemoration of the AMIA attack in 1994 that killed 85 and injured hundreds.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the center will recognize Israeli leaders at a ceremony Monday at Bar-Ilan University.
