JERUSALEM (JTA) — Syria said it brought down down an Israeli drone near the border on the Golan Heights.
Syrian reports did not say whether the drone was shot down or crashed Sunday near the town of Quneitra, an area between the two countries patrolled by United Nations peacekeepers that has seen fierce battles during Syria’s four-year civil war. Some rockets and shells have landed over the border into Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces said it did not know of any unmanned aerial vehicles brought down in Syria.
Syrian media identified the drone as a Skylark, which is used in intelligence gathering.
